Sheldon Kadish Obituary (2022) - Los Angeles, CA

July 16, 1931 – September 6, 2022 Sheldon Lawrence Kadish, a kind, honorable man, died at the age of 91 in Santa Monica, California on September 6, 2022.

Born on July 16, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, Shelly graduated from New Utrecht High School and later from the Philadelphia Textile Institute, where he received a BS in textile technology. After moving to California immediately after graduation, Shelly first entered the apparel industry where he worked as a salesperson for Guild Lingerie. Later, with a $300 loan from his grandmother and a strong desire to "be his own boss," Shelly ventured alone and eventually founded Traci Lynn of California, a children's clothing company. Traci Lynn's brands have been a fixture in the Los Angeles apparel industry for over 39 years and have been sold nationwide at Sears, JC Penny and Walmart, among other major retailers.

Shelly was an avid golfer, world traveler and voracious reader of all books about WWII and the greatest generation. There wasn't a golf gadget he didn't own, nor a Star Trek nighttime episode he didn't watch. While London may have been his favorite city to travel to, Las Vegas and the crap tables at old MGM held a special place in his heart (and wallet).

Everyone who knew Sheldon felt his big heart and nature's giving. A true gentleman in every sense of the word, men and women, young and old, always seemed attracted to him.

While Shelly would drop everything for a friend in need, it was the time he spent with family, especially the loves of his life Mary Ann, Shayna and Eli, whom he loved and cherished the most. Raised by two doting parents, Shelly's grandparents, aunts and uncles were all fixtures in his early life. When the family moved to California from Brooklyn, all of Sheldon's aunts and uncles followed suit, cementing relationships that last for generations.

While Shelly was very proud of his business achievements, he was just as proud of his contributions to the community. His active role in the community has included serving on boards and committees for American Jewish University, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, City of Hope, and Hillcrest Country Club.

He leaves behind his wife Mary Ann Rosenfeld, son Michael, daughter-in-law Deborah and adored grandchildren Shayna and Eli. Shelly was preceded in death by his parents Saul and Gertrude.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to International Medical Corps and World Central Kitchen.
