A Walmart employee is accused of stealing nearly $200,000 in cash from a New Jersey store, a prosecutor says.
The 39-year-old from Mendham stole the money from Walmart at least 15 times, according to the Warren County Prosecutor's Office.
She worked at the location of Walmart's Mansfield Township and was arrested Sept. 7 after a police investigation, says a Sept. 8 press release from the prosecutor's office.
This came after Walmart realized large amounts of cash were missing from the store, the office said.
The employee was charged with second-degree theft and could face up to 10 years in prison, the release said.
McClatchy News contacted Walmart on Sept. 11 for comment.
Surveillance footage of the store captured the employee who stole the money, court records show, according to Lehighvalleylive.com.
She was responsible for handling cash bank deposits and "admitted that on several occasions she had taken the money from the bank deposits and taken several thousand dollars on those occasions," court documents state, the outlet reported.
Mansfield Township is located about 60 miles west of New York City.
